Thomas Fleming, Hillsbrook

Accounts have come to hand of the death in Chicago of Mr Thomas Fleming, a nonogenarian and native of Hillsbrook, Barnaderg. When a young man, he spent some time in England and at the age of 22 emigrated to the US where he has been for 68 years. He was brother of the late John and Daniel Fleming, Hillsbrook, and was uncle of Thomas Fleming, Cortoon, and Peter Fleming, Tuam. He was also connected with the Stone and Long families, Derrybawn. He was lucky in his ventures and was proprietor of a large coal mine operated under the company name Burns, Fleming and Co, Chicago. He is reputed to have considerable wealth and that, as he never married, that is, we understand, to be divided among his Barnaderg relatives and some few relatives in Chicago. While we condole with the relatives upon the death of this successful man, we also heartily congratulate them and the others concerned upon being legatees of a large fortune.[1]
