Last night Wednesday 27th March, members of Killererin Heritage Society enjoyed a most informative and enjoyable lecture by Nora Owens, former Minister for Justice and grandniece of Michael Collins in Screene’s of Guilka.

The lecture was one of a series of four which were held over the winter months in memory of Jimmy’s Dad who died last year.  (Jimmy is proprietor of Screene’s pub and restaurant which was the venue for the lectures) The subject last night (the final night) was of course Michael Collins and as well as giving us the historical facts, Nora gave us a fascinating insight to Michael Collins, the child, the man and his place in his own family.  This infomation brought Michael Collins to life for the audience.

The former Minister was most accommodating to all and sundry, staying around for people to take photos with her and signing books late into the night.

Well done to Jimmy, his partner Becky and staff who provided refreshments later and who organised the event.  Also to Skehana Heritage Society who co-ordinated and collaborated with Screene’s to bring this series of lectures to the people who came from far and wide.
