Dear Son William,

With pleasure, I once more address you with these few lines. Hoping they will find you well and healthy as the departure of this note leaves us all fairly well Thank God.

Well Willie, we received your ever welcome letter a few days ago and also one from Peter. So happy to hear you are all well, and that you are all fortunate to be working in such trying times. We were glad to hear you had a happy Xmas and that the princess was so nice to you with her generous Xmas box even if its a kind of lonely place, ye would feel a while passing. Ye have a bit of ease from being among the crowded city and plenty fresh air.

We are just after a stormy election. Such ridicule and tongue lashing you never could expect among each other and each party trying to blacken his opponent, all for a fat job. Dev has a majority over all parties combined only, but he expects labour will back him as they did the last time. They have promised to do wonders in striping up the lands once and for all, but however, we have to wait and see.

I see you have your favourite president with the greatest majority that country has known. Hoping he will be successful and that he will improve the country. It was a pity it got so wrong but however all countries are twisted.

I see by the papers that Germany is having four elections in one year. What woeful extravagance for one of the cleverest countries of the word. The great science, astronomers and financiers of the world are at their wits end, all trying to get back to where they left.

I have no news of importance. Again hoping that these few lines will find you and all dear ones in the best of health and spirits. We join in sending you our best wishes.

I remain as ever yours affectionately.

Father, Thomas Duggan

May God protect you all.
