Barnaderg Girl Emigrates to the USA, 23 June 1956

Miss Mary Bridget (Bridie) Monaghan, 2nd daughter of Patrick and Mrs. Mary Monaghan (nee Kemple), Imanemore, Barnaderg, left for the USA from Cobh recently. She was accompanied by her aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Martin Scanlon, Ballagh, Menlough, who are spending a six month holiday with friends in New York, Boston and Cincinnati. Miss Monaghan stayed a week with relatives in New York, and then left for Cincinnati where she was met by her aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. McGuinn, and her sister Sally. A very popular young lady, Miss Monaghan was presented with a wallet of notes by friends and neighbours prior to her departure and has the good wishes of all in her new surroundings. ¹
