Early Life

Mary Delia Morris was born into a farming family in Barnaderg on 13th February, 1919. Her parents were Michael John Morris and Anne Josephine Morris (nee Quinn) who came from Cortoonroe.

Nursing Career

Mary Delia began her nursing career in England where she trained as a student nurse in the Sheffield Royal Hospital from 1937 to 1940. She qualified  on November 22nd 1940, by examination at the Royal Sheffield Hospital and was entered in the Register of Nursing No. 107338.

Marriage

A handwritten hospital register record states that she lived at Tapton Court, Sheffield. The record was overwritten with “Hyatt” and “M” entered which indicated that her name was changed by marriage. Marriage records note that Mary Delia Morris married Frank Hyatt in January, 1942.

Death Records

Mary Hyatt died in April 1998 aged 79 and her husband Frank predeceased her on 9th April, 1972 aged just 57.

We know of two children Helen Margaret Hyatt (1949 – 2013) and and Anne Hyatt (1945 – 2008).
